ATMOSPHERIC LANDSCAPE SERIES
Light leaks and film scratches are key elements in this series. Most of the time, I walk around with a pad or camera. These only act as memory aids as we don't see the landscape like a camera does - all in focus for a split second. The photographs serve as a starting point for a painting which at some point can develop in its own direction. I'm not painting from a photo. I use film stains and scratches as object. Light, space and air are all the main subjects of the paintings Nusret Aktay incorporates elements of artists such as Turner, Robert Motherwell and others using their influences in his own works.
